Ragana/Unbecoming/2013 Cassette Review

This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Ragana  which  continues  their  hybrid  of  experimental  rock,  cascadian  black  metal,  doom,  and  sludge  with  the  cassette  being  self  released  in  2013  and  called  "Unbecoming".

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced,  to  fast  drumming  with  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  experimental  rock,  doom,  sludge  and  cascadian  black  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  as  well  as  some  melody  and  soft  and  clean  playing  and  there  are no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  are  all  clean  singing  this  time  around  with  the  black  metal  screams  of  the  previous  recording  being  absent,  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occult  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ragana  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  cascadian  black  metal,  doom,  sludge,  and  experimental  rock,  you  should  check  out t his  cassette.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Curved  Glass"  and  "Invocation".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
